The Green Can Program

As of October 4th, 2010 residents who currently receive the City of Coquitlam’s Yard Trimming collection service can participate in the Green Can program!

What is the Green Can program? Well, today I received a starter kit in the mail. It includes a starter guide and a big Green Can sticker.

First, you have to collect all your food scraps and food-soiled paper in a lidded container in the kitchen. Attach the Green Can sticker on the outside of your yard trimming bin or a garbage can (but make sure its visible on the can). Empty your food scraps container from your kitchen onto your Green Can, along with any yard trimmings you might have. Then place your Green Card at the curb on your designated collection day as required.

There you have it! The city of Richmond has also started this program. Hopefully all of the Greater Vancouver will join us in becoming more green!
